San Diego is such a unique city to live in. I travel for work a lot, and I mean a lot. I’m the top airline status, top hotel status, car rental status and know people at the airport by name, I’m that guy. Being all over the US weekly, I can tell you that San Diego really is unique.
When I first moved to San Diego, I was in a different place seeking adventure. I quit my job, sold my house and got rid of most of my earthly possessions to start feeling alive again, and San Diego did that. Being in the city of sun and perfect weather, the very first thing I noticed, there are people everywhere doing something. At any time, I can find people hiking, kayaking, climbing, diving, sailing, and of course laying on the beach. This is an active city and if you are sick of being stuck in the house 3 months a year, this is the place. There is an energy in the city that makes you want to be active, makes you want to go outside, do something, you just want to be busy and that energy is so great.
The food scene is a little different than most large cities, it’s not as diverse. Don’t get me wrong, there are pockets of some amazing food, but compared to Portland, Chicago, or New York, our food scene takes a bit of research to get the most out of it. If you want great Chinese food you go to Convoy Street, homemade Italian of course is Little Italy, Hipster Vibe – North Park, or fun nice yet expensive eats, La Jolla. There are areas of some amazing food, but it’s not on every street corner.
I really enjoy eating out and I have found some great popular restaurants but also hole in the walls that I hope to share with you. Sadly because of the travel schedule this journey will take me a bit longer than I hoped, but trust me I will show you what I know. I think the traveling will help me provide you a bit of local comparison, something that you can relate to, and when you visit my sunny city let me know, I’ll send you my top picks of that week.
